Kids and pancakes - a Sunday morning match made in heaven!

Sometimes your biggest fans are your smallest ones. I saw many a parent outside my door in Boston, with a child in tow (or maybe it was the other way round) before we were even ready to open. We had a red sofa in the corner with children’s books and a small box of toys. The kids would make a beeline for the sofa while the parents exhaled and opened the Sunday newspaper. From the kitchen we could hear cries of ‘are my pancakes ready’, followed by silence while they were consumed and then back to the red sofa. I watched pregnancies turn into babies, into toddlers and young children and, even now, it makes me smile to think of the conversations I had with kids, yelled across the restaurant, who wanted to know that I was in there making their pancakes. I miss my Dot 2 Dot kids - those young girls and boys who are rapidly turning into our future. Thank you all for giving me so much joy. (I’ll tell you about the naughty ones another time!!)

Sunday Brunch this Sunday - bring your kids and your newspapers.
